Gum Peeling

What Can I Do If My Gums Are Very Dark?

Gum discoloration is a common condition today. It usually occurs in individuals with darker skin due to the presence of melanin pigment in the gums, causing the natural pink color to darken. Melanin pigments are located close to the gum surface and can be removed with a non-surgical treatment called “Gum Peeling.” Depending on the intensity of the pigments, it may recur after several years, and the treatment may need to be repeated over time or can be permanent, depending on the source of the discoloration. It is not a painful procedure or a surgery, and in most cases, it can be completed without anesthesia.
