The clinic has an Infection Control Committee that continuously monitors sterilization and disinfection processes. Every instrument used during patient treatment is sterile. Our clinic has a dedicated sterilization unit; used instruments brought to the contaminated area are first immersed in disinfectant solutions, then cleaned in an ultrasonic washer, and finally rewashed before disinfection. Cleaned instruments are moved to the sterile section, packaged in special sterilization pouches, and sterilized in a steam autoclave under pressure.
Why Sterilization in an Autoclave?
In dental sterilization practices, applying heat or pressure alone is not sufficient for complete sterilization. Effective sterilization requires applying both heat and pressure simultaneously for a specific period, which ensures the destruction of bacterial spores. Studies report a failure rate of up to 60% with dry heat sterilizers, while autoclave sterilization nearly eliminates this risk. Therefore, leading authorities, including the World Health Organization (WHO), strongly recommend autoclave use for sterilization. For this reason, our clinic exclusively uses autoclaves for sterilization.
