What Procedures Does Pearl Care Include?
First, the lip area is moisturized to prevent dryness during the procedure. Then, tartar is removed using an ultrasonic scaler.
The tooth surfaces are polished with a special paste and brush.
The tongue surface, where bacterial accumulation is high, is cleaned.
Dental floss is applied between all teeth for both control and educational purposes.
Finally, fluoride gel is applied to strengthen the tooth enamel, and the patient is instructed on proper oral care.
Is Anesthesia Used During the Procedure?
Unless deep cleaning of subgingival tartar and root surface smoothing is required, no anesthesia is needed during the procedure.
Will I Feel Pain or Discomfort?
Mild sensitivity may be felt in areas where there is gum recession or inflammation.
Will There Be Bleeding in My Gums?
Bleeding may occur in patients with swollen and inflamed gums, but it is not at a worrying level and does not continue after the procedure. After cleaning, inflammation begins to resolve, and the gums return to a healthy, firm, pink appearance.
How Long Does Pearl Care Take?
The procedures take approximately 30–45 minutes. In cases where tartar accumulation is heavy and subgingival treatment is required, a second session may be needed. A follow-up control session is also performed after all treatments.
Do Ultrasonic Cleaners Damage Teeth?
Incorrect use of these devices can cause microscopic scratches on the teeth, leading to faster discoloration. When used correctly and followed by polishing, Pearl Care is a procedure that should be performed regularly.
How Often Should It Be Done?
Plaque accumulation and tartar formation vary depending on tooth alignment, saliva composition, brushing, and dietary habits. Pearl Care is performed as needed during 6-month dental check-ups.
Does It Eliminate Bleeding and Bad Breath?
Unless caused by a systemic disease, gum-related bleeding and bad breath can be treated with Pearl Care.
What Are the Benefits of Fluoride Gel Application?
Fluoride gel reacts with crystals in the enamel layer to form fluorapatite crystals, which are more resistant to decay and help prevent sensitivity. As a result, the enamel becomes more transparent, shiny, and durable.
How Is Fluoride Gel Applied?
After drying the teeth with air, approximately 5 ml of 1.23% APF gel is placed into special foam trays and kept in the mouth for up to 4 minutes, then excess is removed. The patient is advised not to rinse the mouth for about 30 minutes.
Is There an Age Limit for This Procedure?
No, there is no age limit. It can also be applied more superficially to primary (baby) teeth.
Is It Safe During Pregnancy?
During pregnancy, hormonal changes make the gums more hyperemic and edematous, so bleeding may be more than usual, but there is no harm. Preferably, comprehensive care can be comfortably performed between the 3rd and 6th months.
Will Tooth Sensitivity Occur After the Procedure?
Unlike many scaling procedures, tooth sensitivity does not occur after Pearl Care. The applied fluoride gel reduces sensitivity and leaves a fresh taste in the mouth.
Does It Damage Fillings or Crowns?
Absolutely not. Fillings and crowns are also polished during this care procedure.
Will My Teeth Become Whiter After This Procedure?
Once stains and tartar are removed, the teeth appear cleaner and fresher, but they do not become whiter than their natural color. For that, a whitening treatment is required.
